How to download WSOP for desktop

You can either download the desktop software or play poker via smartphone apps. Desktop software is available for both Windows and Apple computers. This gives you access to all the game formats, including the Snap poker games and Blast tournaments. If you are playing bigger multi-table tournaments, the stable platform and ability to multi-table is the way to go.

How to download WSOP app

Apps are available via the WSOP.com site for both Android and iOS devices. The best way to download them is to visit the website via your phone and follow the prompts. These have the geo-location software that will prove you are inside state lines. You can play cash games and tournaments via the apps, with cashier and account management functionality also included.

WSOP.com website review

The black and red design of the downloadable software has a series of buttons along the top. These show ‘Beginners’ (tables reserved for new players), Quick Seat, All Games, My Favorites, and ‘Blast’.

If you select ‘All Games’, a new row of buttons shows you the options. Here is what you will find from left to right:

  • Hold’em: Almost all the cash games are in Texas Hold’em format, and this is where you find them. By default, you get the entire list of tables, you can filter them by table size and buy-in using check buttons below this list. There is a button for Fixed Limit games too.
  • Omaha: Here you will find PLO and Omaha Hi-Lo cash games, the number of games is small enough that they will all fit in one screen, though filters are available.
  • Stud: Occasionally there is a 7-Card Stud or Stud Hi-Lo (both fixed limit betting) available.
  • Sit & Go: Small tournaments are listed here. These games start as soon as enough players have joined. You can filter them by table size, buy-in and speed.
  • Tournaments: This is a busy list, with the bigger buy-in upcoming games at the top, then the current tournaments you can enter before the full schedule appears. A set of buttons lets you filter them. You can choose all, special, satellites and freerolls.

Other bonuses and promotions at WSOP

Some of the promos at the in-stake WSOP poker sites are standing offers, others are one-off, or seasonal. The standing promotions include reload bonuses, player of the week, SNG leaderboards, Blast Poker leaderboards and freerolls.

The one-off / seasonal promotions are more varied. They include multiple chances to qualify online for the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. There are online WSOP Circuit tournament events, as well as qualifiers for circuit live events. Player of the year wins $10k cash – plus entries into WSOP sponsored live tournaments.

WSOP loyalty program

WSOP have a tiered loyalty program. This has 4 levels, based on the number of APPs you earn in a given month, plus a yearly level for high-rollers:

  • Player: 0-199 APPs
  • Bronze: 200-749 APPs – 4x WSOP Points Multiplier
  • Silver: 750-1499 APPs – 10x WSOP Points Multiplier
  • Elite: 1500+ APPS + 12.5x WSOP Points Multiplier
  • Champions Club: 20,000 APPs / Year – 16x WSOP Points Multiplier

If you have achieved a status level in a rival poker site, WSOP will match that when you sign-up. You will then need to collect enough points to maintain it. You can also link your rewards to Caesars Rewards, which can give you comped hotel rooms and resort credit at venues around the country.

The WSOP points you accumulate can be exchanged for cash bonuses at any time, with a minimum 1000-point redemption level.

Poker variations at WSOP

Blast Poker at WSOP Michigan

Blast poker is a the WSOP.com / 888 lottery sit and go game (SNG). These are fast and entertaining 3 handed tournaments. They stand out from regular sit & go games in two key ways. First, the prize pool is random. You join, then find out (via a rotating series of numbers in the middle of the table) how much you are playing for. This can be up to 10,000x your buy-in.

Second, these are short stacked and hyper turbo. Regular games last 5 minutes, with even quicker 2-minute options at the lowest buy-ins. If you get a bigger prize, the game can last longer (giving skill a little more time to show).

After the time limit is up, there is an animated ‘Blast’, after which everyone is all in for as many hands as it takes to determine a winner.

WSOP Michigan: Poker Tournaments

In the combined NJ / NV / DE WSOP.com poker site, the tournament schedule has $250,000 in prizes guaranteed each week. This is topped by a $100k Sunday Major.

Once WSOP Michigan gets up to full speed, the big population of the Great Lake State should ensure that a similar sized schedule is possible. If and when the site gets liked to those in other states, there will be an explosion in the size and variety of tournaments on offer.

There is a wide mix of tournament types covering No-Limit Hold’em and Omaha. A format which has gained popularity over recent years are the progressive knockout games. Each player has a bounty, knocking out a player gives you a cash prize – and also increases your own bounty (making you a better target). There are also turbo, rebuy, and re-entry tournaments.

Satellite qualifiers are a popular way to win seats in both live and online events. It should come as no surprise that this site is keen to give away seats into the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. These satellites cover both the main event and smaller side-events. WSOP Circuit events happen online, as well as qualifiers to the live circuit tournaments.

Deposit and withdrawal options at WSOP

With state regulated poker sites, a lot of mainstream deposit options open up. It is safe and easy to deposit. Withdrawals can require Id requests – and will go back to the same method you used to make the initial deposit (where this is possible).

You will be able to deposit and withdraw at the casino cage of the partner WSOP chooses in Michigan.

Here are the other options:

  • Visa and MasterCard: You can use either debit or credit cards in the same way you would make any online purchase.
  • ACH Bank Transfers: Direct bank transfers are instant if you get pre-verified with VIP Preferred, otherwise this method has a delay.
  • Bank Transfers: Other ways you can deposit via your bank are Bill Pay (with bigger banks) or wire transfers. Money orders are also possible.
  • Neteller / PayPal / Skrill: These are known as eWallets. They are 3rd party services which give you a secure online account. This allows you to deposit and withdraw without giving banking data to WSOP / Caesars.
  • PayNearMe: This cash alternative involves taking money to your local 7-Eleven store, along with a barcode from the site.
  • Cash at Cage: Once we know the partner of WSOP.com, you will know which cage you can take your cash to.

Most of these methods are available for withdrawals. MasterCard, PayNearMe and wires will not work in both directions. WSOP will try and find an alternative that works for getting your winnings out. If all else fails, a paper check can be sent to you in the mail.

Is WSOP Poker Legal in Michigan?

Laws which make online poker legal within state lines were signed by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer at the end of 2019. Each site will need to find a land-based partner for their license. They must also comply with the requirements of the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

Caesars do not have a live casino property in Michigan. There are many land-based / tribal casinos as potential partners in an online poker deal.

In the other states where WSOP Poker has sites, the tables are shared between different states. For tournaments and lower stakes cash games, players from Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware can play against each other. This sharing of players is under review, with federal opinions of the Wire Act changing frequently. It is hoped that players from MI will be able to join these pools at some point soon – until then WSOP.com Michigan will only allow play from within state lines.

There is no legal requirement to be a permanent resident of Michigan as long as you are inside the state you can play. Players must be 18+.

Game Fairness and Security at WSOP Poker

When you play at unregulated offshore poker rooms, you have zero recourse if you are cheated or if the site confiscates your money.

By choosing a regulated site you have oversight via the Michigan Gaming Control Board. You can be completely sure that the deal is fair, that your bonus will be honored and that the money you win will be sent to you.

Key to the game fairness at regulated online poker sites is ‘RNG’ or Random Number Generator software. This determines the shuffle. When you count the WSOP and 888 sites in other states and regulated markets around the world, billions of hands have been dealt. The good news is that no audit or tracking service has found mathematical evidence that the deal is rigged.

While plenty of bad players and conspiracy theorists will claim that online poker is ‘rigged’, there has never been any proof – even after billions of dealt hands.
